‍Judge Robert Henry earned his Juris Doctor in 1976 from the University of Oklahoma College of Law. While he was a law student, he was also elected to the Oklahoma House of Representatives, serving the people of Oklahoma until 1986.

In 1986, Judge Henry defeated Republican Brian C.Griffin to become Oklahoma's Attorney General. While serving as AG, he was an active participant in the National Association of Attorneys General, chairing committees on Agricultural Law and Civil Rights and contributing to the Supreme Court Advocacy Committee. He won reelection in 1990, but stepped down in 1991 to assume the role of Dean at Oklahoma City University School of Law. During his tenure, Judge Henry’s academic work focused on legislative law and statutory interpretation.

In 1994, Henry was appointed to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit, where he served for 16 years, the last two as Chief Judge. During that time, he authored over 750 legal decisions. While on the bench, Henry was appointed by Chief Justice William H. Rehnquist to chairthe Judicial Conference Committee on International Judicial Relations and to serve on the Codes of Conduct Committee.

In 2010, he transitioned his focus to academia, becoming the President of Oklahoma City University until 2018, when he reentered private practice.

He is licensed to practice in several courts, including the U.S. Supreme Court. He is also a lifetime member of various legal organizations, like the American Law Institute and the Uniform Law Commission.

In 2017, the SCRIBES American Society of Legal Writers awarded him a Lifetime Achievement Award. Post-judiciary, Henry has engaged in moot court arguments, mediation, and has represented Indian Nations legally. He is also a board member of Devon Energy.

Judge Henry has been involved in multiple legal and international organizations, such as The Council on Foreign Relations, the Vera Institute of Justice, and the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation. He succeeded Justice Sandra Day O'Connor as the U.S. Representative to the Foundation for the Future in Amman, Jordan. He is also a published author and speaker in the legal community and has been awarded four honorary doctorates.

Throughout his career, Henry has received a plethora of awards, including induction into the Order of the Owl, the Hall of Fame for Oklahoma University College of Law, and he received recognitions from the Oklahoma Israel Exchange and the Oklahoma Human Rights Commission, among others. He has also received international acknowledgments, including from the Council of Judges of the Russian Federation.
